Empathetic and transformative wellness coaching

My name is April Leaman . I am a native Lancastrian. I have a Master’s of Science degree in Clinical Psychology and over 20 years of experience in the mental health and counseling fields.

I am passionate about meeting clients where they are in life and helping them reach their goals. I believe deeply in the value of a trusting relationship and confidential in-session process to elicit the change you want for yourself. I employ humor, empathy, and unconditional positive regard with my clients. 

 

A diversity of experience and educational training

My past work experiences cover many different treatment modalities and includes time in the following: school setting providing wraparound services to children and their families, community-based mental health group home clinical supervisor, Certified Sexual Assault hotline counselor, Women and Children’s Shelter Director for individuals experiencing homelessness, and Graduate Assistant to the Center for Counseling and Human Development at Millersville University.

I have post-graduate training in the areas of:  Risking Connections Certified Trauma-Informed Care Trainer, Lancaster County Recovery Taskforce Intermediate Module Trainer, PA Cert Board, Motivational Interviewing, Suicide: Crisis Lifeline Cultural Considerations for LGBTQ+ Youth, Wellness Integration in Professional Counseling, 988 Suicide Crisis Lifeline, Competitive Employment for Individuals with Mental Illness, leadership development trainings, Person-centered planning, Social Role Valorization, Relational MANDT, Crisis Intervention, PRIME Multicultural Training “When Culture and Communication Meet”, Gender Differences in the PA Justice System, and Catalyst Leadership Training. I am a member in good standing with the American Counseling Association.
